Linda Geraghty, E-RYT, LMT, Owner of Hummingbird Yoga and Massage, was featured in the acclaimed documentary about generational addiction “Our American Family”.
In 2013, Linda opened Hummingbird Yoga and Massage in Ardmore. Her goal was to share yoga with those directly and indirectly affected by addiction and trauma, as yoga was so instrumental in Linda’s own healing around the chaos of addiction that plagued her family. The result was a caring, loving, and supportive yoga community. Linda believes a crucial step on the road to recovery is connection with the body.
In 2023 she received an award on behalf of Be a part of the Conversation for Visual Arts and mind/body practices.Having had a parent who struggled with anorexia nervosa, Linda learned at an early age how to minimize addictive behaviors. With an ex-husband and children who have attended multiple treatment centers over many years, she shares lessons learned with other parents and families.In 2014, Linda developed the NECTAR Program (Nurturing Energy Cultivates Trauma/Addiction Recovery) with the help of the Hummingbird instructors. In 2014, Linda launched NECTAR (Nurturing Energy Cultivates Trauma/Addiction Recovery) a 16-hour training for yoga instructors, therapists, addiction counselors, and massage therapists.
Her trainings inform a more inclusive, gentler, yet empowering approach to Yoga. Although Hummingbird is no longer a physical space, trainings, classes, workshops, and meditation groups are offered in local facilities and parks in the community.In 2017, Linda and her family had the unique opportunity to serve the recovery community through the documentary Our American Family featuring her own family’s struggle with generational addiction and recovery.
In 2022, “Our American Family” received the audience choice for Best Feature Documentary at the Woodstock Film Festival. It also received an award at the Philadelphia Film Festival. For the past two years, Linda has traveled across the country to participate in Q&A sessions following the screening of the film. Linda shares her poetry and offers participants tools like breathwork, meditation, and mindful movement they themselves can use to calm the nervous system, and with their clients.
